    Looks like a 515E to me. And, a real late one at that, made when Altec's debt load left them unable to buy paint or decals for the motor. Until the seller is ready to take 50 bucks or less for it you won;t have to worry about me bidding against you.

    Bolts, and bolt holes.

    Didn't you have some 421's showing stress cracks in the paint at the junction where the back plate meets the ferrite donut?

    That wouldn't happen if they were bolted.

    The bolts are just an added measure of stability/strength to ensure the back plate and pole piece remain in alignment for a very long time.

    To my knowledge the bolts offer absolutely zero sonic effect.

    But, they could certainly help some of us sleep better
